About Me

I’m Monica Alexander, and I am a writer of contemporary, new adult, and young adult fiction. After getting two degrees and spending most of my adult life in the business world (where I still spend my days), I honestly never thought I’d turn my lifelong love of books into something more … until 2011 when I published my first novel, Just Watch the Fireworks, which was pretty much the most exciting and terrifying thing I’ve ever done. Now being a part-time writer has become ingrained in my life, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

When I’m not writing, I can be found reading excessively, buying cute outfits online, pinning obsessively on Pinterest, downloading new music, learning to play guitar … which might be one if the hardest things I’ve ever tried, and learning to play piano … which I’m finding isn’t so hard. I also love to cuddle with my two chocolate labs, Roscoe and Cooper, who love snuggles and kisses and going for long walks. I spend a lot of time at the baseball field cheering on my husband’s little league team, watching the Red Sox kick butt during baseball season, and during football season, it’s all about the Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

You can learn more about me on Facebook and Twitter, but mostly you’ll just see cute pics of my adorable dogs (you can see the major cuteness below!). And on Pinterest, I have a board called Mentioned in My Books, which is full of pics of what I imagine my characters to look like, my book covers, song lyrics that inspired certain parts of certain books, and other odds and ends that I might have mentioned in a book. It’s kind of a catchall, so follow along for updates and new insider info on books that I’m working on.

Thanks for reading!
